Stockhead Investor: Astral Resources weaves a golden web with high-grade Spargoville hits
Astral Resources continues to enhance the gold potential of its Spargoville project in WA with recent infill and extensional drilling at the Wattle Dam Complex returning high-grade intersections.
Notable assays from the 39-hole drill program totalling 4234m are:
13m grading 7.1g/t Au from a down-hole depth of 87m including 2m at 34.6g/t from 92m and 5m at 1.88g/t Au from 162m;
5m at 9.35g/t Au from 38m including 3m at 13.8g/t from 39m and 13m at 1.04g/t Au from 47m; and
5m at 1.02g/t Au from 113m and 4m at 11g/t Au from 122m including 1m at 40g/t from 123m
This program was designed to infill mineralisation at the Redback, Huntsman and Trapdoor deposits as well as extend resources at the Huntsman and Redback deposits to the south where gold-bearing lodes may potentially merge.
These results also indicate Astral Resources (ASX:AAR) may just be scratching the surface of a larger mineralised system.
Not only do the intersections represent the deepest tests on their respective drilling lines and demonstrate that mineralisation remains open at depth, the high-grade mineralisation appears to be associated with the eastern contact of an interpreted porphyry.
Meanwhile, the company is progressing sterilisation drilling as part of the ongoing definitive feasibility study for its adjoining Mandilla project.
A second rig is infilling a portion of the Theia stage two pit design to a 20m by 20m drill spacing before moving to the stage one pit to reduce drill spacing down to 12.5m by 12.5m to enable estimation of a very high confidence measured resource.
